Read this first - so the five days are real

Five days is a promise we can only keep on a defined scope. This is a cosmetic refresh of a kitchen that keeps its existing layout. We do not move walls, we do not relocate the sink or range, and we do not open the electrical panel. Everything is measured and ordered before day one, and your stone is templated the week before we start. If you want walls moved or plumbing relocated, that is a full remodel and it takes three to six weeks - see our Kitchen Remodeling page. We would rather tell you that now than blow a deadline we sold you.

What changes in five days

  • Cabinet boxes stay. Doors and drawer fronts are refaced with new veneer or replaced, or the whole run is professionally sprayed.
  • New countertops - quartz or granite, templated the week before and installed on day three.
  • New backsplash tile, set and grouted.
  • New sink, new faucet, new garbage disposal.
  • New pulls, knobs, soft-close hinges and drawer slides.
  • New under-cabinet LED lighting.
  • Walls and ceiling patched and repainted.
  • Caulk, trim and toe-kick replaced so nothing looks like a patch job.

The five-day schedule

  1. Day 1. Protection goes down. Old counters, backsplash, sink and hardware come out. Cabinet doors come off and go to the shop.
  2. Day 2. Drywall and wall prep, priming, cabinet box prep and spray or reface prep.
  3. Day 3. Countertops installed. Sink and faucet set. Disposal plumbed.
  4. Day 4. Backsplash tile set and grouted. Doors and drawer fronts return and are hung and aligned.
  5. Day 5. Hardware, under-cabinet lighting, caulk, touch-up paint, deep clean and walkthrough.

What it costs

Most five-day refreshes in Los Angeles run $6,900 to $16,500. The spread comes from linear feet of cabinetry, whether doors are refaced or replaced, and your stone selection. A galley kitchen in a Sherman Oaks condo sits near the bottom. A large L-shaped kitchen in Encino with an island and premium quartz sits near the top.

When five days is the wrong answer

If your cabinet boxes are water damaged, particle board that is delaminating, or the layout genuinely does not work for how you cook, refacing them is throwing money at a problem. We will tell you that at the estimate and quote the full remodel instead. Roughly one in five kitchens we look at for a refresh should be a full remodel, and we say so.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really five days?

Five working days on site, yes - but only because we measure, order and template everything one to two weeks before we start. The clock starts the morning we begin demolition, not the day you sign.

Can I use my kitchen during the week?

You lose the sink for roughly two days. The refrigerator stays plugged in the whole time.

Is refacing as good as new cabinets?

If the boxes are solid, yes - and it costs about a third as much. If the boxes are swollen, delaminating or water damaged, refacing is a waste of money and we will tell you.

Do you need a permit?

No. This scope does not move plumbing, gas, walls or circuits, so no permit is required.

What if the stone is wrong on install day?

You approve the slab and the template before fabrication. If our fabricator makes an error, we replace it at our cost.
