A custom carpentry project combining a panelled feature wall with a built-in TV unit, designed and fabricated for the specific room. Built-in joinery has two advantages over bought furniture: it uses the full wall, and it hides the cables. For this project the panel layout was set out around the screen position and the media components, with cable routes and ventilation planned into the build rather than drilled afterwards. The TV mount was fixed to structure, not to panelling. The unit was fabricated to the room's actual dimensions, scribed to the wall and floor to close the gaps that give away freestanding furniture, then filled, caulked and finished.
