Preparation and repainting of a staircase, covering treads, risers, stringers and handrail. Stairs are the hardest painted surface in a house to get right, because they take direct foot traffic and because a staircase cannot simply be closed off for three days in an occupied home. Our crew prepared the surfaces properly, filled and sanded, primed, and used a coating suited to foot traffic rather than standard wall paint, which will wear through on the tread nosing within months. The work was staged so the stairs remained usable throughout, finishing alternate treads and allowing proper cure time before the remainder. We also check the stair itself while we are on it. Loose treads, squeaks and a wobbling handrail are safety issues and are far easier to correct while the stair is stripped back than afterwards.
